Successful Legitimate Freelance Writing Business With Fiverr

If you’re reading this, I assume you’re already familiar with Fiverr’s work. You make “gigs” or small tasks that you complete or sell for $5 each. How in the world, you ask, would anyone make a decent living selling their work or anything else around the clock for $5? The secret is to make performances in small chunks. For example, I have a job doing a book review of up to 150 words. If buyers want reviews over 150 words, they must purchase multiple shows for $5 each.

But the real key to starting a successful freelance writing business with Fiverr is that it’s a start. It’s your gateway to building a writing portfolio, collecting client testimonials, and understanding your writing about what you do and don’t want to do. Of course, if your income needs are on the low side (good for you!), Fiverr can provide you with a steady income, which is a goal in itself. But I found that Fiverr has some side benefits:

Completing many small orders has improved my writing speed

My writing has improved

Writing is generating ideas for my own work

With all these additional ideas on the way, I developed the discipline to pay myself first. That said, I start writing my own articles, blogs, and books the day before I write to fulfill my order. Like the article you are reading right now. Yes, I have urgent orders on Fiverr and other freelance sites and currently have six, but this is my own and needs to be written down to keep me awake and focus on customer needs.

As a freelance writer, there are some things I don’t do on Fiverr.

ghost writing. I thought that if I shed blood and tears for writing, I would publish it myself and be rewarded with ongoing passive income. Why only get paid once, if you publish it in your own name you can get book rights or use it on your own blog or website.

False reviews. I hate this one, don’t I! ? I give honest reviews of books and products that I actually read or use (I know the concept!), but I strongly reject those who ask me to post 15 reviews they’ve written about their own books. How can you possibly have multiple Amazon accounts? I had two when I sold books from two different places. I was knocked down and almost lost my Amazon account – life couldn’t go on without my Amazon account! I think the Amazon police force is big and active!

Overall, Fiverr is a great place to start if you’re freelance writing from scratch. Soon you will find yourself having to refuse work as the orders come in.
